Refund Policy

At SM Academy, we strive to provide excellent educational services. This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions under which refunds may be granted for course fees and related services.

1. General Refund Policy

All refund requests are subject to review and approval by SM Academy management. Refunds will be processed according to the terms outlined in this policy and applicable laws.

2. Refund Eligibility

2.1 Before Course Commencement

If you cancel your enrollment before the course start date:

  • More than 7 days before start: Full refund minus administrative charges of ₹500
  • 3-7 days before start: 80% refund
  • Less than 3 days before start: 50% refund

2.2 After Course Commencement

Refunds after the course has started are subject to the following conditions:

  • Within first week: 70% refund (if less than 25% of course content has been accessed)
  • Within second week: 50% refund (if less than 50% of course content has been accessed)
  • After second week: No refund will be provided

3. Non-Refundable Items

The following items and fees are non-refundable:

  • Administrative/processing fees
  • Course materials that have been provided or accessed
  • Certification fees (if certificate has been issued)
  • Any discounts or promotional offers applied at the time of enrollment
  • Fees for courses that have been completed or certificates issued

4. Refund Request Process

4.1 How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, you must:

  1. Submit a written refund request via email to info@smacademy.com or in person at our office
  2. Include your full name, course name, enrollment number, and reason for refund
  3. Provide proof of payment (receipt or transaction ID)
  4. Return any course materials provided (if applicable)

4.2 Refund Processing Time

Once your refund request is approved:

  • Refunds will be processed within 7-14 business days
  • Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used
  • For cash payments, refunds will be processed via bank transfer or cheque
  • You will receive a confirmation email once the refund is processed

5. Special Circumstances

5.1 Medical Emergencies

In case of documented medical emergencies preventing course completion, we may consider partial or full refunds on a case-by-case basis. Medical documentation must be provided.

5.2 Course Cancellation by SM Academy

If SM Academy cancels a course due to insufficient enrollment or other reasons:

  • Full refund will be provided
  • Alternative course options may be offered
  • Refunds will be processed within 7 business days

5.3 Technical Issues

If you experience significant technical issues that prevent access to course materials and we are unable to resolve them within 48 hours, you may be eligible for a refund or course extension.

6. Transfer Policy

Instead of a refund, you may request to transfer your enrollment to:

  • Another course of equal or higher value (subject to availability)
  • A future batch of the same course
  • Another student (with approval from SM Academy)

Transfer requests must be made before the course completion date and may be subject to administrative charges.

7. Dispute Resolution

If you are not satisfied with a refund decision:

  • You may request a review by submitting additional documentation
  • All disputes will be handled in accordance with our Terms and Conditions
  • Final decisions rest with SM Academy management

8. Payment Method Specific Policies

8.1 Online Payments

Refunds for online payments will be credited back to the original payment method (credit card, debit card, UPI, net banking) within 7-14 business days.

8.2 Cash Payments

Refunds for cash payments will be processed via bank transfer or cheque and may take up to 14 business days.

8.3 Bank Transfers

Refunds will be transferred to the bank account from which payment was received. Please ensure your bank details are accurate.

10. Policy Updates

SM Academy reserves the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. Students enrolled before policy changes will be subject to the policy in effect at the time of their enrollment.

11. Governing Law

This Refund Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
